We the Undersigned, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Flatbush, East Flatbush, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Prospect Park South, homeowners and residents are appalled by the “as of right” ruling which allows owners and developers to erect buildings which will have an adverse environmental impact upon all communities surrounding and adjacent to Prospect Park.
We understand that Flatbush, Lefferts Garden side of Prospect Park is under the current R7-1 zoning laws which allows structures to be built without taking into account its impact upon the community and the environment.
We understand that Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Flatbush have submitted an application for rezoning five years ago and the building department hasn’t acted fairly, expediently or responsibly with this application thus allowing developer, Hudson Cos, to begin excavating a 23 story building with the use of 72 million dollars in state funds without the proper environmental impact studies required by State Law! And at least five other similar projects are to follow!
Therefore, we DEMAND an immediate moratorium on all buildings and alterations that fall under the R7-1 zoning laws in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Flatbush area, where the ultimate height of any structure to be built will exceed a height of fifty feet, while we await a decision on our five year pending application on rezoning and or landmarking in Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Flatbush area.
We the undersigned, demand that our public officials act upon our demands and we vow to support only those who work towards achieving OUR goals!
